Only $29/Year, For Life

Everywhere you look, costs are on the rise—especially for business owners. That’s why we’re doing our part to support local companies by keeping our prices low at Rocky Mountain Registered Agent.

Don’t waste your money on expensive Wyoming registered agent service that gives you the same benefits we offer (or fewer). With our $29/year price tag, you can save your cash and invest it back in your business.

Plus, when you contact us, you never get an automated system answering your questions or an email written with AI. You get real, personalized customer service from one of our Wyoming filing experts.

Don’t let yourself get taken advantage of by greedy big-box companies when you can go local and save. National companies will charge you $100, $200, or more for a year of service. Plus, many companies raise their prices after the first year.

Not us—you’re starting out at $29/year, and you’ll finish at $29/year, end of story.

We scan and upload your documents to a secure online account that’s easy to access and use (and includes a library of free business documents!).

Plus, we have a suite of services to help you start your business and keep it running smoothly: Company Formation, Foreign Registration, Mail Forwarding, and Virtual Office.

Yeah, we know the Rockies make you think of Colorado—but the Western half of Wyoming is almost entirely taken up by the Rocky Mountains, including Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park.

The Rocky Mountains remind us to pursue excellence and approach life (and business) with an enterprising spirit. We’re always trying to improve, for us and for you!

Every business formed by registering with the Wyoming Secretary of State, such as an LLC or corporation, is required by state law to have a registered agent (W.S. 17-28-101).

A registered agent acts as the middleman between you and the state, accepting legal and state documents (such as service of process) on behalf of your business. Having a registered agent means that the state always has a way to get in touch with you and that legal notices don’t get lost after they go out for delivery.

All registered agents must be located within the state of Wyoming and be available to accept legal documents during regular business hours. Registered agents must have a street address, not a PO Box, where they can receive service of process.

If your registered agent is an individual, they must be at least 18 years of age.

If you don’t list a registered agent on your formation paperwork, your application will be rejected.

If your company fails to maintain a registered agent, your company is at risk of losing your good standing with the state and being administratively dissolved by the WY SOS. The state may also levy civil fines against registered agents who violate the law by not performing their duties.

You can serve as your own registered agent. To do so, you must list your own name and the address where you’ll be available to receive documents.

However, there are some drawbacks to being your own registered agent. If you work from home, you’ll have to put your home address on your formation paperwork, which goes on the public record. If you work from an office, you may be served in front of clients. And if you travel for work or go on vacation, you may not receive an important legal document on time.

A registered agent doesn’t automatically form your company after being appointed. If you want your agent to file your formation paperwork, you’ll have to hire them for that service (for example, we’ll file your paperwork as part of our Company Formation Service).

Hiring a good registered agent service benefits your company in three key ways:

Registered Agent Service Increases Your Privacy

If you serve as your own registered agent, you might have to list your home address (especially if you work from a home office) on your formation paperwork.

When you do this, your home address becomes accessible to anyone who looks up your business through the Wyoming Business Search.

Hiring a registered agent service means you’ve got a layer of protection between you and the public.

Registered Agent Service Keeps You Professional

Serving as your own registered agent can be problematic if you want to avoid having service of process agents showing up at your house or place of business.

Being served in front of your neighbors or customers can be embarrassing, and it can make you seem less professional.

With a service, you can maintain your credibility.

Registered Agent Service is Reliable and Convenient

Registered agents are supposed to be available at the same location during regular business hours, year-round.

So, what if you’re acting as your own agent and you take a business trip or go on a vacation? You won’t be able to uphold your registered agent duties and could miss a critical document or notice, leading to negative consequences for your business.

When you hire a service, someone is always on hand to receive your documents.

Here’s what sets us apart from other registered agents:

Get answers to some of the most common questions we receive.

Do I need to have a Wyoming registered agent?

All business entities formed by submitting paperwork with the Wyoming Secretary of State are required by law to have a registered agent at formation and to maintain a registered agent as long as they are in business.

Is it better to be my own agent or hire a service?

It depends on your goals. If you don’t mind listing your own address on formation paperwork, will always be available during regular business hours to accept legal documents, and don’t want to spend any money, be your own registered agent.

However, if you won’t always be available and don’t want to miss any notices or documents, want to keep your address off the public record, and don’t want lawsuits delivered to your home or place of business, hiring a service is the right move for you.

Do I sign up before or after forming my business?

Because you must list your registered agent’s name and address on your formation documents, you should sign up before forming your business. Otherwise, you’ll have to go through the process of changing your registered agent by filing an Appointment of New Registered Agent and Office form. Plus, the name and address of your previous registered agent will still be on the public record.

When I hire you as my RA, do you file my formation documents?

We do not automatically file your formation paperwork when you hire us as a registered agent. However, if you order Company Formation service, we file on your behalf and give you a year of registered agent service for $129 plus state fees.

What is Compliance Service?

Enrollment in Compliance Service (called “Renewal Service” in your online account) is included with Registered Agent and Company Formation Services. We created this service because year after year, we see our clients getting in trouble after they’ve forgotten to file their Annual Report with the Secretary of State. If you haven’t filed within 60 days of the due date, your company could be administratively dissolved by the state, and you would no longer be able to do business.

To keep your business from suffering the negative consequences of missing your filing, we send you a reminder about 3 months before the due date and let you know that we’ll be filing soon on behalf of your business. Then we file your report well ahead of time ($100 plus state fees, only charged at the time of filing) so you stay in compliance without a second thought. If you want to file on your own, just cancel the service inside your online account.

If you have other questions, send us a message or give us a call.
